Project Description
The stereotypical cottage style home with a porch swing and white picket fence isn’t intended for everyone. Some people like to think more outside the box for what they call home. Janzen Builders once again took on the challenge of building a log home from start to finish. The complete solid log wall structure required careful planning of the details before starting the assembly process. With the new challenges of floor to ceiling solid log construction came the challenge of shaping the two storey gables as well as the three custom dormers, wrap around deck, and front veranda. The second floor assembly required custom joinery to achieve the look of the exposed log joists. The dual purpose 2×6 tongue and groove pine served as both the second floor finish material as well as the main floor ceiling finish. The team enjoyed the challenge of shaping and fitting the rough logs of this beautiful prairie home.
