Project Description

This coulee view home had a previous addition that remained separated from the main floor living area. Janzen Builders was asked to design a solution to remove the dividing load-bearing wall to create an open concept living space. These changes enabled the customer to explore new options and redefine their space, allowing them to enjoy the beautiful coulee view and natural light from all of the main living areas. The original 1960’s rafter design gave us the option to vault the ceiling with minimal alterations to the existing roof rafters which added another dimension to this open concept. The re-designed bedroom area allowed for a spacious contemporary master bedroom with a large ensuite and walk in closet. Part of the challenge of this job was to modify the upstairs while making minimum alterations to the previously finished basement. Even an established, dated structure can be transformed into a modern, functional space while meeting current building codes as well as customer hopes and expectations.
