Log Cabin in Seven Persons

This beautiful custom cedar log home was built near the hamlet of Seven Persons. With the initial intention of assembling it themselves, the owners began the journey of building their dream home. Concerned with the growing complexity of the project, they decided to look for some help to assist with this unique venture. This is where Janzen Builders came in. Working with the customer and after carefully inspecting the plans, we modified the original design from a 1 ½ storey to a full 2 storey home with vaulted ceilings and dormers in order to accomplish what they had envisioned. Along with modifying the second floor joist system to accommodate the duct work, this house also had the challenge of installing conventional framing techniques on top of the original log structure in order to create continuity. Janzen Builders rose to the challenge, designing exterior features like the dormers and log details above windows as well as the vaulted covered front entry, assembling log stairs and handrails, installing the log siding and the pine ceilings, and continually problem solving for issues throughout the project until this dream home was complete.
